Principles and Practice of Clinical Research

Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (PPCR) is a highly innovative learning program which is offered by Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital and accredited by Harvard Medical School and aims to provide excellent training in medical research. 


Applicants who are employed at University Hospital Carus may be eligible for financial support to partially cover the tuition fee. Applications for financial support have to be submitted to Prof. Dr. D. Michael Albrecht, Medizinischer Vorstand, University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, Dresden, Germany. 


Also, PPCR applicants can enroll to DIU's Master's in Clinical Research Program, an additional one-year component that upon graduation grants a Master of Science degree. DIU Master's Program in Clinical Research

The Dresden International University (DIU) Master’s Program in Clinical Research was designed by Dr. Timo Siepmann ( Carus and Dresden International University) and Dr. Ben Illigens (Harvard Medical School ) to provide leading-edge training in the methodology and practice of clinical research and was launched in February 2014. 


The core component of the Master’s Program in Clinical Research accredits course grades of the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (PPCR) and offers an additional one-year component which includes intensive on-site workshops on the topics Scientific Presentation, Economical Aspects of Clinical Research and Clinical Pharmacological Trials, and Applied Statistical Analysis as well as a Master thesis which can be a scientific publication. 


The Master’s Program is open to applicants from Dresden, Boston and from all over the world. Upon graduation, students receive the title Master of Science (MSc) from DIU as well as the PPCR course certificate from Harvard Medical School.
